Chatterton PTA

Welcome to the Roland A. Chatterton PTA website.  Many exciting activities and events are planned for the school year. The Roland A. Chatterton School PTA is an integral part of our school community. We work closely with parents, teachers, administrators, and the community to achieve the best educational opportunities for our children; quality education in Merrick is a cooperative effort.

Chatterton PTA offers many programs. Among other things, we support school trips, in-school residencies and cultural arts events.  We offer our teachers the opportunity to apply for Mini-Grants which allow them to incorporate a special project into a unit they may be teaching. This is all possible as a result of our fundraising activities;  all proceeds directly benefit our children.

The PTA is also a valuable service organization. With the help of our dedicated parent volunteers, we run a successful lunch program. We also provide the Kindergarten Orientation program. Our volunteers help with school art shows, music concerts and Kindergarten Art Squad.  The list goes on…

Please consider becoming an active and integral part of our organization. We would love to see you at our monthly meetings. Check the calendar for dates and times. We encourage you to join and support our PTA. Your input and suggestions are welcomed. Your involvement will make a difference. There is nothing like the look on your child’s face when they see you volunteer at a school event.  Their excitement will melt your heart!

PTA Mission

The mission of the PTA is threefold:

– To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make  decisions affecting children;

– To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children;

– To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.
